Program Notes
This piece is, at its core, a portrait in sound: one person translated into piano—their steadiness and quiet radiance, their small flashes of freedom, their doubts and imperfections. It’s not meant to tell a clear story, but to capture a feeling—like catching glimpses of someone through shifting light.
The music moves between calm and uncertainty, between warmth and hesitation, the way a real personality does. Certain ideas return in slightly different forms, like familiar expressions that change depending on the moment. Nothing is fixed; everything breathes and evolves.
Portrait of a Princess isn’t about grandeur so much as presence. It reflects a kind of quiet strength—something gentle, human, and deeply felt. More than anything, it’s an attempt to hold onto how someone feels, even as that feeling shifts and fades.
